Tino Time

June 26, 2014

Justin Valentino has joined his fellow 20 year olds on the Dauphin Kings when it comes to advancing his hockey career. The Kings announced today that Valentino is moving on to the CIS where he’ll play with former Dauphin King Guillaume Naud and the Lethbridge Pronghorns.

Like the rest of the 20 year olds from this past year’s Dauphin Kings, Valentino was a big part. Dauphin acquired him in a trade with the Swan Valley Stampeders during the season. It did take Valentino some time to adjust to his new role on the Kings, but once he did he was a very valuable piece. Playing on a line with Mitch VanTeeling, the two would face other team’s top lines on most nights and were able to shut them down many times from the MJHL to a national stage at the RBC Cup.

Below are some treats from Valentino this past season and the release from the Dauphin Kings. All FREE as usual!

First As A King

The Dauphin Kings are happy to announce Justin Valentino is the 6th graduating player this season to move on to the CIS with the Lethbridge Pronghorns.

The Kings acquired Valentino in a trade in mid December last season from the Swan Valley Stampeders. In 30 regular season games, the Thompson, MB product, notched 4 goals and 16 assists for 20 points. In the MJHL playoffs, Valentino scored 3 times and added 3 helpers for 6 points in 13 games. He went on to pick up 4 points in 4 games at the Western Canada Cup, and another assist in 5 games at the RBC Cup in Vernon, BC.

“Tino was great player and great person for us.” stated Kings AC Marc Berry. “He’s highly skilled and can play the game at top speed. Tino is a guy we relied on heavily throughout the post season, he was a key guy on our special teams. You can’t talk about Justin and not mention his character. He was a leader for us on and off the ice. He’s a first class person. He’ll do very well at the next level and we were proud to have had him in a Kings jersey.”

Valentino will join former King Guillaume Naud with the Pronghorns. Lethbridge is coming off a disappointing season by their standards, but are taking great steps to get back to the top of the CIS standings.

“I want to say “Thanks” to the Dauphin Kings along with Muzz and Bearzy.” said Valentino. “It was a great run. It was a great way to end off my junior career. I wouldn’t have wanted it to end with any other guys.”

The DauphinKings would like to thank Justin for his time in Dauphin and wish him all the best in Lethbridge next season and beyond.

This brings the total of committed graduating players by the Kings to 6. The Dauphin Kings pride themselves on helping their players move on to the next level and will have more announcements coming!
