The Dauphin Kings have signed another local player to their lineup for the upcoming season.
This time they inked 18 year old goaltender Connor Shaw.
A Dauphin product, Shaw spent last season with the Manitoba ‘AAA’ Midget Hockey League’s Parkland Rangers where he played over 1300 minutes and helped the team to a massive 2-1 victory over the Winnipeg Wild during the season. Arguably their biggest win of all time. Before that Shaw spent time with the Westman High School Hockey League’s Dauphin Clippers where he backstopped the club to the league finals in 2012-13.
Shaw has been watched closely throughout his career and was an auto protect by the Dauphin Kings in 2011.
Below is the release from the Kings…
The Dauphin Kings are pleased to announce that local product, Connor Shaw has signed with the hockey club.
Shaw spent last season with the Parkland Rangers in the Manitoba AAA Midget League. Last season Shaw had 8 wins in 24 games with a 4.02 GAA and a .882 save %. Shaw was originally listed by the Kings in 2012 when he was the team’s only auto-protected player that season.
“Connor has worked hard over the last few seasons to give himself the best possible chance at playing at the Junior A level.” said Kings AC Marc Berry. “He’s a very athletic goaltender and has excellent character. We are happy to have him signed and look forward to getting him into camp and continuing his development.”
Shaw has gotten to know the Kings first hand as his family have been billets. Shaw has also been the Kings back up in practises over the last 2 seasons when needed.
“Unbelievable feeling signing with the Dauphin Kings!” stated Shaw. “I can’t wait to get the season started!”
