A solid week by the Dauphin Kings has them rolling into the biggest seven days of their season.

In case you missed it last week here’s a rundown of what happened…

On Friday the Kings grabbed an impressive 4-3 road win over the Winnipeg Blues. They followed that up with a disappointing 4-2 loss to the Neepawa Natives. In their biggest game of the season (At that point) Dauphin was able to pick up a key 3-2 shootout win against the Waywayseecappo Wolverines.

The Kings enter this week with a record of 20-28-6 on the season. They’re two points up on Wayway for eighth in the MJHL, which translates into home ice advantage in the best of three survivor series in early March. However there are still games to be played.

Dauphin has six contests left in their campaign, five are on the road and three are this week. It starts with a MASSIVE tilt on Tuesday when they visit the Wolverines in Waywayseecappo. After Tuesday the Kings go to OCN to battle the Blizzard on Friday (7:00pm on 730 CKDM) and then they’ll look for redemption against the Natives in Neepawa on Saturday (7:30pm on CKDM).

Three ‘s Of The Week

3. Chance Thomas

I contemplated giving the entire third star to the BLT line, but since Chance Thomas’ goal on Saturday against Wayway was a beauty I’ve elected to give him third star honours. Thomas enters this week on a three game point streak (1G, 3A). Dauphin’s leading scorer has been solid all year round and continues to lead the team in points with 44 (17G, 27A). The BLT line, although it was split up on Saturday, has three goals and eight assists in it’s last three games. Here’s Chance Thomas’ goal from Saturday against Wayway…

2. Kirklan Lycar

Kirklan Lycar had three big goals for the Dauphin Kings last week. The first came against the Winnipeg Blues on Thursday. The next two came against the Wayway Wolverines on Saturday. The first tied up the contest when the Kings were trailing 2-1 in the second period. The second won’t go to his goal total this season, but it was a very important one because the Kings got a point out of it in the 3-2 shootout victory. Lycar has consistently been scoring for the Kings this year. He’s got 16 goals and six assists for Dauphin. That puts him sixth on the club in scoring. Go for a ride in the Lycar below…

1. Connor Shaw

Connor Shaw picked up two wins in two starts for the Dauphin Kings last week. He was very good in Dauphin’s 4-3 victory against the Blues in Winnipeg, making key saves and having solid control of his rebounds. He then followed that up with a great effort at home on Saturday when they Kings beat the Wayway Wolverines 3-2 in a shootout. Even though he made just 14 saves according to the stats, a good amount of those shots were quality opportunities. Shaw’s record this season is 6-5 with a 3.31 goals against average and an .897 save percentage.
