Veteran Presence

September 8, 2015

The Dauphin Kings’ veterans played a solid contest as the club beat the Swan Valley Stampeders 5-2 Tuesday night in Swan River.

A lot of players had a good night for the Kings, and it started from the net where Troy Martyniuk stood very tall, putting up his most solid effort since the start of camp. Martyniuk played the entire contest and stopped 39 of 41 shots. Dauphin had 30 on Swan Valley’s net.

On the defence side Lucas Nagel played good, and continues to show well since the start of camp. Forward wise Kirklan Lycar led the way with two goals while Dejon Marsh and Stephen Sisco looked excellent in a number of scenarios.

The Power Play was one of only a few issues for Dauphin Tuesday, they finished 0 for 4 while Swan Valley was 0 for 7. The Kings Power Play, however, did have strong pressure at times.

The win is the Kings second straight of the pre season and ends a stretch where the team was on the ice five straight days dating back to camp.

Now Dauphin gets a few days off before beginning a home and home with the Neepawa Natives. The first game goes on Friday at Credit Union Place. Game time is 7:00pm.
