Halfway There

September 12, 2015

The Dauphin Kings and Neepawa Natives complete their quick home-and-home set tonight in Neepawa as the MJHL pre season marches on.

It’s actually the halfway point of the Kings’ exhibition schedule. They play seven total. After this evening they’ll face Wayway at home on Tuesday and then Virden next Friday and Saturday.

Following yesterday’s 5-1 victory Dauphin is 3-0 in the exhibition season while Neepawa slipped to 0-2. Yes I realize records at this point are meaningless, but it still gives us something to talk about. Don’t forget last year the Dauphin Kings finished the pre season with a record of 3-1, the year before that when they hosted the Western Canada Cup they were 4-2. So really the pre season doesn’t tell us much, at least record wise, what a team will look like in the standings. One thing is for sure right now though, this team has been fun to watch, and the morale around the rink seems to be very high. A very positive sign moving forward.

Tonight’s lineup for the Kings will likely be much of the same compared to yesterday’s. Today you might see players like Rory Davidson and Lucas Nagel draw in. There are still a handful of Kings with minor injuries though. Hayden Pierce is nursing a minor lower body injury as is Kyle Bird while Jackson Robinson and Romano Morrison are on the sideline with upper body injuries.

Updates might be a battle tonight as the Yellowhead Arena in Neepawa is always rough for cell service. However, the game will be broadcast on FASTHockey, and Neepawa does a very good job with their broadcasts. So if you are on the fence about watching this game on FASTHockey tonight, I advise you do.

Opening face off this evening is 7:30pm. I’ll post the roster later on and have a recap tonight!
