Natives Edge Kings In Shootout

September 12, 2015

The Dauphin Kings suffered their first pre season loss Saturday night at the Yellowhead Arena in Neepawa, falling 3-2 to the Natives in a shootout.

The contest overall was a chippy affair, with shenanigans all over the place. The whole sixty plus minutes kind of had a wierd feel to it. Dauphin did not compete as well as they likely would have wanted to, but this is what pre season games are for.

A couple bright spots in the evening included Kirklan Lycar scoring Dauphin’s first power play goal of the season and the Kings overtime period was very good. Four out of the five minutes was spent in the Neepawa end. Troy Martyniuk made a couple of huge saves for Dauphin as well. The other goal scorer for the Kings Saturday night was Landon Plett, who Lycar set up in the slot in the first period. Lycar now has six goals in three pre season games.

I would have liked to provide a more detailed scoring summary, but there were no in house announcements this evening, from goals to penalties. There were also no shots on goal reported either. However, they did manage to announce the 50/50 winning number. As of right now there is no online scoring too.

With this shootout loss Dauphin slips to 3-0-1 in the pre season. Their next contest comes on Tuesday when they welcome Waywayseecappo to Credit Union Place. Game time is 7:00pm. The Kings have three exhibition games remaining before the season starts for real on Friday September 25th.

Thanks for following tonight!
