Players on the bubble will get their final chance to make an impression tonight as the Dauphin Kings conclude their pre season in Virden against the Oil Capitals.

With just below 30 players on the roster Dauphin has under a week to make some key decisions that will get them down to between 22 and 25 players. With the amount of injuries the team has battled through this early in the season, those decisions will be even more difficult for the coaching staff. But that’s a good problem to have, especially compared to a year ago.

Last night a bad third period cost Dauphin their first regulation loss of the pre season. The lost 4-2 to Virden and that slipped their record to 4-1-1.

Opening face off from Tundra Oil & Gas Place in Virden tonight is 7:30pm.

After tonight’s contest the Kings get almost a week off to prepare for their home opener against the Neepawa Natives on Friday September 25th.

Friday’s home opener is FREE for the public to attend, you just have to go and pick up your free tickets from the Dauphin Clinic Pharmacy. I’ve been told that over 1,200 have already been given away. Friday will also feature the first One Hour Power Play Show of the season, it runs from 4:00pm to 5:00pm on 730 CKDM. After that we will broadcast the home opener at Credit Union Place. Puck drop is 7:00pm.

I’ll have more on the upcoming events next week.

Tonight’s roster will be posted this evening.
