Third Period Push

October 10, 2015

The Dauphin Kings scored three goals in the final frame to beat the Waywayseecappo Wolverines 4-2 Saturday night.

The first two periods were slow for both clubs with Wayway taking 1-0 and 2-1 leads into the second and third periods. Dauphin played strong in the first two periods, but really came on in the third with some excellent shifts. Scoring Saturday for Dauphin in order were Drake Bodie (2), Trevor Kavanaugh (1), David Brumm (4) and Drake Bodie (3) again.

FUN FACT: Drake Bodie’s two goals against Wayway were actually the first goals he’s scored in Wayway against his former club since being traded a couple years ago.

Along with the solid outing from the skaters, the Kings also got a very good effort from netminder Jarrod Schamerhorn. He stopped 25 of 27 shots. That included some key opportunities in the third period for the Wolverines. Dauphin had 33 shots Saturday night.

Power Plays saw both teams score. Dauphin had two man advantage goals while Wayway had one. Sadly full Power Play stats were unavailable after the game.

The Kings improve to 4-4-0 on the MJHL season and now get almost a full week off to prepare for two key games next weekend. They’ll kick off the stretch Friday night at Credit Union Place against the Winnipeg Blues. Then Saturday they’ll battle the Portage Terriers.

Thanks for following tonight…
