Doubling Up

October 23, 2015

A two goal third period powered the Dauphin Kings to a 4-2 victory over the Neepawa Natives Friday night at the Yellowhead Arena.

Dauphin’s third period was good but it was a pretty strong sixty minute effort overall. As heard on the Parkland Source for Sports Post Game Show the Kings stuck to their game through the first 40 minutes even though they weren’t breaking through as much as they would have liked. They eventually did early in the third.

It was another balanced night of scoring for the Kings. They got goals from three different lines and a D-man. In order Dauphin got tallies from Romano Morrison (3), Sam Schultz (3), Matthew Greening (4) and Kirklan Lycar (8).

Jarrod Schamerhorn (4-1) continues to get better, he made a bunch of key saves Friday including two golden opportunities for the Natives in the opening period. No shot totals were available after the game.

Special Teams saw Dauphin finish the night 0 for 4 on the Power Play and 2 for 3 on the Penalty Kill.

The Kings are now 6-5-0 on the campaign and have a quick turnaround with a game Saturday against the Steinbach Pistons. The good news for the Kings is the trip back to Dauphin is a short one.

Don’t forget the Kings debut their new Dauphin Fire Department third jerseys Saturday at Credit Union Place. Opening face off is 7:00pm.
