Kings Lose Second Straight

October 27, 2015

A bad first minute in the third period eventually led to the Dauphin Kings seventh loss of the season Tuesday night in Selkirk.

The Kings fell 5-3 after leading the Steelers 2-0 over halfway into the game.

After building that lead Selkirk then scored two goals in the later stages of the second period to tie things up heading to the third. Then a bad bounce on a point shot during an early Dauphin Power Play resulted in the Steelers taking the lead. After that the Kings had a bad shift and it resulted in another goal to make it 4-2. Dauphin did put some pressure on as the period wore on but by then it was too late.

It was really a tale of two different teams on Tuesday for the Kings. The first half they were excellent both offensively and defensively. The second half they had moments where they had to battle.

Scoring for the Kings Tuesday were Chance Thomas (5), Brandon Young (1) and Oliver Lester (1). Lester’s goal was in his first game as a King, finishing off a nice passing play from Drake Bodie and Kirklan Lycar.

The newley acuired D-man was one of the bright spsots Tuesday night for the Kings, he was very mobile and created some nice plays offensively.

In net was Connor Shaw (2-4), he played ok stopping 23 of 27 shots. The Kings outshot the Steelers with 34 on net. Special Teams once again gave Dauphin problems. They were 1 for 6 on the Power Play and 1 for 2 on the Penalty Kill, plus they gave up that shorthanded goal against. It’s the second straight game the Kings have given up a shorthanded goal.

Dauphin (6-7-0) now gets a lot of time off to practice and reset their game. They don’t play again until next Wednesday when they visit the Portage Terriers. That contest you can hear on 730 CKDM, Pre Game 7:15pm, puck drop 7:30pm.

Thanks for following tonight…
