Kings Pound Neepawa, End Losing Skid

November 7, 2015

It was a much different Dauphin Kings team Saturday night in Neepawa as they rolled over the Natives, hammering them 6-1.

Dauphin’s effort from start to finish was arguably their best of the season.

Matthew Greening (5 & 6) was the first star on the night, scoring two goals. His first one was in the first two minutes and his second featured excellent hand eye coordination (BELOW). Landon Plett also played well for the Kings, notching his first and second of the campaign. Other scorers were Thomas Lenchyshyn (3) and Oliver Lester (2).

In net Jarrod Schamerhorn (5-4) didn’t have a lot to do, but when he was called apon he made saves. Especially when the game was close in the later stages of the first period and early in the second. In the end he stopped 22 of 23 shots. The Kings had 42 on Neepawa’s Troy Pierce.

Power Plays saw Dauphin finish the night 2 for 7, their Penalty Kill was 7 for 8.

The Kings will try to carry over their solid play on Tuesday when they welcome the Waywayseecappo Wolverins to Credit Union Place. After that it’s two on the road next weekend.
