The Dauphin Kings conclude a busy weekend tonight when they visit the Winnipeg Blues for the second time this season.

Dauphin will be looking for a better effort this evening after falling short 7-3 to Winnipeg on home ice last week. Overall it’s the fourth meeting of the year between the Kings and Blues. Dauphin won the first two with Winnipeg answering back most recently.

The Kings are coming off a 4-1 loss to the Winkler Flyers Friday. It was a game they looked good in, but didn’t finished on chances and lost some consistency in the third period.

Listen to tonight’s tilt on 730 CKDM, the Pre Game Show kicks off at 6:15pm with opening face off at 6:30pm! If you can’t listen follow me on Twitter (@ChristianCKDM)!

Intermissions: In the first intermission tonight it’s the latest edition of RAPID FIRE. This time Kings forward Thomas Lenchyshyn gets in on the action. He’ll get 60 seconds to answer 20 questions. The out of town scoreboard features lots of items tonight. There’s two other tilts in the MJHL, Steinbach is in Swan Valley and Portage hosts Selkirk. The Parkland Super League of Curling is back at the Parkland Rec Complex in Dauphin and the Parkland Junior Curling Tour is also in play. Plus the Parkland Rangers are in Morden to battle the Pembina Valley Hawks. Also tonight are games in the WHL, NHL and we can’t forget about the CFL Semi Finals, they’re going on today too!

Team Stats

Kings 8-10-0: The last time the Dauphin Kings were in Winnipeg they played a pretty good game against the Blues, beating them 6-5 in overtime. Dauphin controlled that game for the most part, but did give up a couple leads which sent the game to overtime. The Kings Special Teams coming in to tonight are almost the exact same as they were before Friday’s tilt in Winkler. Their Power Play is eighth in the MJHL at 17.02% while their Penalty Kill is 78.16% which is seventh overall. Kirklan Lycar (10G, 7A) and Matthew Greening (6G, 11A) are still atop the team in scoring with 17 points. The Kings are 1-2-0 on the road so far this month.

NEAT TREATS

Tyler Derkach is on a 2 game point streak (1G, 1A).

Stephen Sisco is on a 2 game point streak (1G, 1A).

Blues 11-8-3: Winnipeg, like Dauphin, has been off since Friday. That evening they defeated the Waywayseecappo Wolverines 4-2. The Blues will conclude a four game home stand tonight against Dauphin, after they visit Steinbach and then come back home for a three game home stand. So Winnipeg is in the midst of a lot of home games. The Blues Power Play is third overall in the MJHL at 21.48% while their Penalty Kill is the best in the league at 90.02%. Kamerin Nault (18G, 15A) is Winnipeg’s top scorer with 33 points, that puts him third in the MJHL. Nault has scored seven goals in three games against the Kings this season. Winnipeg is 1-2-0 at the MTS Iceplex so far this month.
