The Dauphin Kings and OCN Blizzard kick off two games in two nights against each other this evening at Credit Union Place.

The Kings are in search of their fourth win in five outings tonight. These contests are the first two between the teams this season. In six meetings last season the Blizzard won the series going 4-2-0 against the Kings, Dauphin was 2-3-1.

Get set for tonight’s contest with the One Hour Power Play Show on CKDM. It’ll be LIVE and FREE from MR MIKES in Dauphin. The show kicks off at 4:00pm and runs until 5:00pm. Opening face off tonight is 7:00pm at Credit Union Place. If you can’t watch on FASTHockey then follow me on Twitter for updates (@ChristianCKDM).

Team Stats

Kings 9-10-0: The Dauphin Kings did not win all three games they played in last week, but the seven day period can be considered a success as the team played three strong contests with the lone bump coming against Winkler last Friday. As mentioned above the key for the Kings over the next couple nights is to not take the OCN Blizzard lightly. OCN did rattle off five straight wins in October, so they know how to win and they’re gonna start doing it again eventually. Dauphin’s Power Play enters tonight eighth in the MJHL at 17%, their Penalty Kill is up to sixth at 79.79%. Remember, Dauphin’s PK was superb in a 2-1 OT win against Winnipeg last Sunday, it went 7 for 7. Kirklan Lycar (10G, 7A) and Matthew Greening (6G, 11A) continue to lead the Kings in points with 17, however both have not registered a goal in seven and three games respectively. The Kings are 1-1-0 at Credit Union Place so far this month, this season they’re 3-5-0.

NEAT TREATS

Tyler Garrioch is on a 2 game point streak (1G, 1A).

Blizzard 8-14-2: An up and down season so far for the OCN Blizzard. After winning five straight in late October OCN has not won since, dropping nine in a row. The Blizzard offence has been out scored 43-9 on the losing skid. So far this season OCN has rolled with their top line, when they’re going the team is going. But in the nine game losing streak the line of Logan Harland, Devin Muir and Jeremy Dumont have combined for just four goals and seven assists. Another issue for OCN is the fact they have played more games (24) than almost every team in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League, so if the Blizzard are going to move up the standings they’ll need to start winning soon. The northern Manitoba club has been penalized more than any other club in the league, they’ve been shorthanded 136 times. The next closest team is Winnipeg at 113. The Blizzard Power Play is the worst in the MJHL at 9.59% while their Penalty Kill is eighth at 75.74%. Logan Harland (11G, 25A) is atop the OCN Blizzard in scoring with 36 points, that’s third in the MJHL. On the road this month OCN has not won obviously, this season they’re 1-9-2 as the visitors. That lone win came against the Neepawa Natives on October 10th.
