The Dauphin Kings will see eight of their next eleven games at Credit Union Place and it starts tonight when they continue a three game in four night stretch.

This evening the Kings battle the Selkirk Steelers for the third time this season. In their two other meetings the Steelers beat the Kings both times in Selkirk by scores of 9-7 and 5-3. Both of those games saw Dauphin play excellent in long stretches, but take a few minutes up which eventually cost them two points.

After this evening’s contest the Kings will entertain the Virden Oil Capitals at Credit Union Place tomorrow.

REMEMBER: The One Hour Power Play Show is FREE and happens today from 4:00pm to 5:00pm LIVE from MR MIKES in Dauphin. Opening face off tonight at Credit Union Place between the Kings and Steelers is 7:00pm. Follow me on Twitter (@ChristianCKDM) for updates!

Here’s Kings Head Coach and GM Marlin Murray ahead of tonight’s game, but we start this interview with chatter on the December 1st Deadline and the players he could possibly add to his club over the next three days…

Team Stats

Kings 9-12-1: As mentioned this is a big stretch coming up for the Kings, they’ll play eight of 11 before the Christmas Break at Credit Union Place. Dauphin is still searching for their identity on home ice. So far this season they’re just 3-4-1 in the City of Sunshine. It feels like all it’s going to take for this team to get rolling in the right direction is a big win at home, something they haven’t had yet this season. After a weak night in Virden on Wednesday the Kings Power Play (16.38%) dropped to eighth in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League while their Penalty Kill still remains strong, it’s sixth at 78.18%. Matthew Greening (6G, 12A) leads Dauphin in points with 18. These next two games are the final two of the month of November for the Kings, so far this month they have a record of 3-5-1.

Steelers 9-13-2: The Selkirk Steelers come in to Credit Union Place tonight on a seven game losing streak. By now you should realize that doesn’t mean much though. Remember the OCN Blizzard came into Dauphin last week on a nine game skid, they then went on to beat the Kings 4-3 in overtime last Friday. The Steelers have been very close to snapping the streak on a number of occasions. In the seven game losing streak, five of the losses have been by just one goal, if you flip those results around then Selkirk has won six of their last eight and it’s a whole different conversation. The Steelers come in with the MJHL’s fifth best Power Play (21.25%) and third worst Penalty Kill (75.26%). This month Selkirk is 1-3-1 on the road, overall this season they’re 2-7-1. Ty Kraus (11G, 17A) leads the club in scoring with 28 points.
