The Dauphin Kings opened up 2016 on a high note with a 6-2 victory over the OCN Blizzard Sunday night.

The game was just the tip of the iceberg though, as the month of January will only get busier for the MJHL club.

This week the Kings have two more games, a rare mid week trip to the Winnipeg area.

On Thursday they’ll face the Blues in Winnipeg for the final time this season. You can hear the tilt on 730 CKDM, the Parkland Source for Sports Pre Game Show begins at 6:45pm.

The next night the Kings head a little north to take on the Steelers in Selkirk. The game will be a key one when it comes to battles in the standings. Coming into this week Dauphin is just two points behind the Steelers for eighth in the standings with three games in hand. Puck drop Friday in Selkirk is 7:30pm. The tilt can also be heard on 730 CKDM with the Pre Game Show at 7:15pm.

Three ‘s Of The Week

3. Brandon Holtby

Brandon Holtby, like the Dauphin Kings, has won three of his last four games. Since being acquired in a trade with Waywayseecappo the Regina product has seen his record improve to 6-15 on the season. All of Holtby’s other numbers have improved as well. He now has a .900 save percentage and a 3.53 goals against average. In his last four games Holtby is 3-1 with a .994 SV% and a 2.00 GAA.

2. Thomas Lenchyshyn

The Dauphin Kings’ fourth line picked up where they left off before the Christmas break. One of those three players is Thomas Lenchyshyn, who had two points against his former team Sunday in the Kings’ 6-2 win against the OCN Blizzard at Credit Union Place. The former Eastman Select now has four points in his last four games (2G, 2A). Lenchyshyn opened the scoring for the Kings Sunday night against OCN.

1. Graeme Hore

Graeme Hore led the way for the Kings Sunday, scoring two goals. Hore, like the rest of the team’s fourth line, has been playing very well as of late. The youngest player on the team has three goals in his last four games. The former Southwest Cougar is sixth on the Kings in goals scored with six. He has eight points this season.
