The banged up Dauphin Kings conclude their three game in three night road swing tonight when they take on the MJHL’s top club, the Portage Terriers.

The Kings are coming off a 7-2 loss last night in Winkler. It was the second straight night Dauphin played well for two periods and hung around, but couldn’t mount a comeback in the final frame.

Listen to this contest on 730 CKDM, it starts a bit earlier than normal. The Parkland Source for Sports Pre Game Show begins at 6:15pm with opening face off at 6:30pm. Follow me on Twitter (@ChristianCKDM) for updates if you can’t listen!

Intermissions: Tonight in the first intermission it’s the newest edition of RAPID FIRE. This time it’s with Kings goalie Jarrod Schamerhorn. He’ll get 20 questions in 60 seconds and we’ll see if he can finish! Also tonight in the intermissions is the out of town scoreboard. There’s one other contest in the MJHL as the OCN Blizzard host the Selkirk Steelers. The Parkland Rangers aren’t in action but we’ll be keeping an eye on the Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League, with three key games on the day. There’s also five games in the NHL.

Thank you everyone for the support so far.

I made it to the playoff round. If you want to keep voting for me in the playoffs click the link below. This round only lasts for two days. My matchup is matchup 4 of 8!

Thanks again!

Team Stats

Kings 18-31-3 (9th): The Dauphin Kings remain in 9th place in the standings, still three points back of Selkirk after yesterday’s game between the Steelers and OCN Blizzard was postponed due to ice conditions. That game will be completed this afternoon in OCN. Dauphin will look for a full 60 minute effort this evening against Portage, but it’ll be tough considering they’re taking on the top team in the league and they’re in the back end of a three game in three night stretch. Special Teams have Dauphin ranked 10th on the Power Play (14.53%) and 8th on the Penalty Kill (76.63) coming into tonight. After scoring last night Kirklan Lycar (20G, 24A) added two points to his total and continues to lead Dauphin in scoring with 44 points.

Terriers (1st) 46-6-2: The Portage Terriers enter tonight’s tilt against Dauphin on a 14 game winning streak. A win would tie their franchise record at 15. The club reached 15 straight wins last season, but couldn’t get past the mark to set a new team record. Portage continues to show well after their RBC Cup championship run last year. With six games left in their campaign the Terriers are on the cusp of clinching first in the standings. They need just five more points to gain home ice throughout the MJHL playoffs. To no surprise Portage has some of the best Special Teams in the league, their Power Play is 3rd at 23.67% while their Penalty Kill is 1st at 89.14%. Brad Bowles (40G, 54A) SHOULD win the league MVP award when the season comes to an end. He leads the MJHL in points with 94 and will likely surpass 100 later this month.
