Brett Klassen was traded to the Flyers Saturday night. Our older son Angus played for the Kings for three years and we are disappointed that Brett will not have a chance to play for a great organization. But that is the way Junior hockey goes. We followed your site every day and wanted to let you know that you are doing an excellent job and to keep this site going. We will be following the Pride. The Klassens

Add the 11th best goal – a combination of two key goals – down 3-1 in Western Canada Cup and who brings the team back from the brink – the unsung ones – the fourth liners doing their job by being there when needed. I may be a little biased as my nephew scored the second goal but the bottom half of last years roster of players all seem to be doing real well this year. Sure feel for Coach Murray because you can never play everyone as much as you’ld like especially gearing up to host the WCP. Good luck the rest of 2015.

I agree! But that line in my opinion played well the entire playoffs WCC and RBC. Those two goals were just one of many bright spots for them during the run.

Can you explain how the Portage player can drop his gloves – possibly even before Cody Nelson – get in a lot of punches and come away with a double minor??? I think it makes the league look like it is a little mixed up in its rules ??? Your thoughts????? And yes I do think his hit on the Dauphin player was clean.

It’s funny that you bring it up because we actually discussed it on the Post Game Show yesterday. I had never seen a penalty situation like that before where it ended up being a three minute long Power Play. According to Murray there shouldn’t have been an instigator, both players should have just got fighting penalties and been tossed from the game since Alexander dropped the gloves first. I thought the hit was clean as well. Murray said after the game that Nelson said he never had the intent of fighting, he just wanted to step in for a younger player that got hit. Apparently Alexander turned and dropped the gloves and the fight happened. Four minutes for roughing was just stupid, but nothing we can do about it now.

What is your take on Portage’s RBC Cup chances – I know it is early but you saw last years cup and you’ve seen them this season – what do you think???

      • January 29, 2015 2:50 pm

From what I’ve seen so far I think it would be a huge disappointment if Portage didn’t make it to the semi finals. I think their team is good enough to at least make it to one of those two games. Beyond that it’s tough to say because it’s just one game and anything could happen. It’ll be interesting to see what happens in BC and Alberta this year. Fort Mac is struggling and they’re hosting the WCC, Spruce Grove might make it through this time around. All depends on the competition that makes it into the RBC and how healthy they are.

Pretty good “politically correct” answer so here’s my real question – are they fast enough???

    • February 4, 2015 9:52 pm

Every game I’ve seen them play against the Kings they haven’t looked like they are. Maybe they’ll find another gear for the playoffs.

Track suit going to “Hockey Hall of Shame” – just kidding – I wish all the players the best of luck on their fresh starts ( but I kind of think Chevy got the best of the deal ).
