Stampeders Shut Out Kings

January 20, 2015

Former Parkland Ranger Tristan Langan had a goal and two assists while Swan Valley goalie Graham Hunt stopped all 32 shots he faced as the Stampeders blanked the Dauphin Kings 6-0 Tuesday night.

The loss is Dauphin’s fifth in a row. Although the score may not show it, the Kings dominated the first 20 minutes of the contest. However they were unable to get anything by Hunt. Dauphin somewhat carried that over into the second period, but once again they couldn’t bury their chances while Swan Valley did. The Stampeders scored three in the middle frame and another three in the third to take the contest.

Kings goalie Connor Shaw sees his record slip to 4-4 on the season. He faced 30 shots, stopping 24. Each team had four Power Plays, Swan Valley picked up two markers while Dauphin obviously had none.

Bradley Schoonbaert took part in his first MJHL game. I honestly liked the way he played. Unfortunately, like his teammates, he had a couple opportunities but couldn’t find the back of the net.

3 Stars

3. MacDonald (SWN)
2. Hunt (SWN)
1. Langan (SWN)

The Kings’ 23rd loss of the season holds them in eighth spot in the standings, tied with OCN (Blizzard lost to Wayway tonight, 5-3). The difference is they’ve played one more game than the Blizzard. Dauphin is now 15-23-6, despite the loss they still win the season series with Swan Valley, going 4-1-1 against the Stampeders in 2014-15. The Kings get a couple days off before their next home game, it comes on Friday when they entertain the Virden Oil Capitals. The contest goes at 7:00pm. Listen to the One Hour Power Play that day from 4-5pm on 730 CKDM!
