Troy Martyniuk (9-15) stood tall all night, especially in the second period, as the Dauphin Kings picked up a big 5-1 road win over the Selkirk Steelers Tuesday.

Maryniuk did most of his work in the middle frame when the Steelers came hard at the Kings. He turned aside 20 of 21 shots in the period, overall he ended up with 38 saves. Dauphin had 25 on the Selkirk goal.

BLT’s were on the menu again Tuesday night. The line of Dylan Bredahl, Mathieu Lapointe and Chance Thomas combined for nine points. Bredahl (10 & 11) and Lapointe (15 & 16) each had two goals on the evening, Kirklan Lycar (14) had Dauphin’s fifth marker.

The Kings also won the Special Teams battle, going 1 for 3 on the Power Play and 5 for 5 on the Penalty Kill. Dylan Bredahl’s second goal of the evening was shorthanded, Dauphin’s first of the campaign.

3 Stars (From me, because none were named in Selkirk)

3. Lapointe (DAU)
2. Bredahl (DAU)
1. Martyniuk (DAU)

The win is the Kings’ third straight, improving their record to 18-23-6 on the season. After Tuesday’s events Dauphin remains eighth in the standings, but they’re now four points clear of the OCN Blizzard who are in ninth and they’re two back of Selkirk who sit seventh.

The Kings are playing their best hockey of the season right now, but they’ll need their best effort tomorrow as they visit the RBC Cup host Portage Terriers for the final time this year. Listen to the affair on CKDM, Pre Game 7:20pm, face off 7:30pm.

Thanks for following tonight, good night from the bus…
